Hey, it’s nice of you to stop by! Welcome and thank you for visiting my website. This is an opportunity for us...you and me...to discuss issues affecting our great All-America City of Roanoke.
I love Roanoke, Virginia. I love our city, our valley and our mountains. What a place! What a place! Roanoke’s been good to me. My dad and mom moved our family here in 1961 and I still remember walking out the front door of our home in Raleigh Court in the evening to look up at “The Star” on Mill Mountain. I graduated from Patrick Henry cum laude in 1970 with a superior scholastic education from excellent Roanoke teachers who helped mold my life. I’ve worked in a general practice of law here since 1978, helping Roanokers solve their problems. And, after 8 years serving as City Councilman (1984-1992), I received the highest honor of a lifetime by being elected Mayor of Roanoke not just once...but 1992, and in 1996, in which my greatest single accomplishment was joining with our people to rehabilitate and reopen the Hotel Roanoke. It was a further great honor to be elected to a third term in 2008. Thank you.
Although I’ve not been successful in every thing I’ve done in my life, I continue to believe that we must be determined to contribute to helping the lives of others. Making a “difference” is a great goal, but simply making a “contribution” is a real accomplishment. That’s why I continue to participate in the Kiwanis Club of Roanoke, one of our city’s premier civic groups, as well as the Hibernians and Knights of Columbus, which are associated with my church, plus Rebuilding Together (formerly Christmas in April) to assist in the rehabilitation of private homes for senior citizens and the poor of our community, and I also served the legal profession on the Board of the Roanoke Bar Association.
It’s great loving Roanoke! Ours is an enchanted and beautiful valley in Virginia. We’re a vibrant and progressive city, too.
That “Star” on Mill Mountain remains the symbol of Roanoke. It forever lights our way and typifies the fact that, down below, Roanokers are just good, hard working, decent and patriotic Americans...people who always have their feet planted firmly on the ground...but people who, also, constantly look upward to the Stars...to the dreams in their lives.
That’s our Roanoke! Aren’t we lucky!!!
